Have you been watching or listening to the news lately? Then you know we have a big problem on our hands, actually, several big problems. And if you're not careful you'll find yourself wallowing in the murk of fear, panic and despair. Things are a mess in our country, and in the world for that matter, there's no doubt about that, but when messes happen, it's time to get busy and clean them up.
So let's get busy! You've no doubt heard the song - What the world needs now, is love, sweet love. This is a truth. The only thing that will ever heal anything - our country, our government, our leaders, our economic crisis, and the world - is love. Fear and the expressions of fear - greed, anger, malice, jealousy, bitterness -only create more of the same. Since every thing in our world is composed of energy, what goes out comes back in the same form. This means fear begets more fear situations and experiences, which could look like more wars, more greed, more corruption, more dishonesty. In terms of cleaning up the mess, as long as fear is the core, we get nowhere.
Now that we've established that only love heals, what does that look like? First of all, you need to let go of the idea that everything is falling apart. Look back over history, even the last couple decades of your life, and you'll notice that no matter what showed up in the country or your life, you made it through. The same will transpire here too - we will make it through. It's a time for regrouping, redoing, reorganizing, and resourcefulness. Focus on the chaos and you'll breed chaos in your life. Focus on where you want to go and you will get there because that is positive energy going to work from a place of love and attracting the same to it.
Once you've managed to release the negative patterns and thoughts based from fear, let get of all attempts to control or fix the problem. Instead, surrender the situation (problems) to your Higher Power. There is a power greater than you and there is a bigger picture from what you can see. Trusting in this knowingness and keeping your faith and belief that all is well allows you to become stronger, which is necessary to bring the good into your life no matter what is going on in your external environment. Realize this too, that you cannot solve your problems in the same place they were created. This quote from Einstein states, "The problems we face today cannot be solved from the same level of thinking that created them." That's why it's so important to quit trying to figure everything out and simply turn it over to your Higher Power (God).
Are you still with me? Okay then, let's delve further. We've been talking about energy and that whatever goes out comes back the same - likes attract likes. What do you think happens if you are continually filling your mind up with negative information - from TV, radio, friends, peers, articles - about the tough times surrounding us right now? You've got it! What you think about is what you create. If you are continually bombarding your mind with fear thoughts about the economy, you'll find yourself spinning in the same cycle of fear. It's that energy thing again - what you put out comes back, guaranteed! So quit filling up with fear. Instead, read a great, inspiring book or go for a walk, or watch a comedy that makes you laugh and helps you realize there is a lot of good in your life.
You have to make some changes in order to thrive in this economy so it means inputting good, positive things on a regular and daily basis. James Arthur Ray made this comment. "Think about if you allowed garbage to stack up inside your home... How nice would it be in short order? Trash needs to be contained and taken out to the curb as soon as possible." Good analogy, don't you think? So dispose of your negative thoughts and your life will smell much better!
The world needs love, yet so many people do not even know what love looks like. They believe it is in the physical realm and is found in relationships, the gathering of material possessions, and personal achievements. But that's not where you find love. Love is deep in the heart and it must be realized first in self-love for you. You cannot give what you do not have, so if you do not love yourself, you have nothing to give anyone else. Loving yourself first is not being conceited or egotistical, because we are created from love and that is our essence. Recognizing that fact allows us to know our true value and worth so that we can be and have whatever we want as a powerful, incredible masterpiece. As we recognize our brilliance we can then recognize the brilliance in others. So this is another step in helping yourself and the world - loving yourself and radiating that self-love out to others.
Perhaps I've convinced you that changing your thoughts and focus is vital for healing, but maybe you're wondering how to do that. Many people hear a new thought and agree with it, but have no idea how to incorporate it into their life. Here it is, the number one and most powerful step you'll need to take to create the life you truly want. In order to create that life - one of unlimited abundance and unconditional love, you must shift your thoughts into ones of gratitude. This means being grateful for every small and big thing, including your challenges. That's right, be thankful for everything and you will shift your entire life into one of abundance and love.
This doesn't mean that all your problems will be solved instantly, or that money will drop out of the sky like raindrops. What it does mean is that you'll recognize how much you already have, and when you focus on that good in your life, it will expand into more, guaranteed! It may not come to you overnight, but it will come. The most vital component is that you will have shifted and will see things differently. It's that energy thing again - whatever you focus on expands and becomes more of the same. To me this is a no brainer as to what to focus on. So every time you hear more negative news, simply acknowledge it and shift to thinking about something good in your life, perhaps the fact that you are alive and kicking. The more you remind yourself of the good the easier it becomes, making it faster for chasing away those negative bits of news and subsequent fear thoughts.
We have an incredible opportunity at this time in history to really make positive changes. The changes begin within us, one individual at a time. Just as fear is contagious, so is love contagious. Think of times when someone complemented you or did something nice for you unexpectedly. Remember how good it made you feel? Those were loving gestures and you responded favorably to them. Try smiling at a frowning person and nine times out of ten they will return the smile, shifting away from their frown. We have the power to make a tremendous difference in our community, our country and our world as we shift to the good and think positively.
Begin today by shifting your negativity into focusing on the good things in your life and you will be amazed how different your life will appear. As has been said so many times before - Where you focus your thoughts is the place from which you are creating your next life experiences. Keep your focus on the good and more good will show up!

One day a farmer's donkey fell down into a well. The animal cried piteously for hours as the farmer tried to figure out what to do.
Finally, he decided the animal was old, and the well needed to be covered up anyway; it just wasn't worth it to retrieve the donkey.
He invited all his neighbors to come over and help him.
They all grabbed a shovel and began to shovel dirt into the well. At first, the donkey realized what was happening and cried horribly. Then, to everyone's amazement he quieted down.
A few shovel loads later, the farmer finally looked down the well. He was astonished at what he saw. With each shovel of dirt that hit his back, the donkey was doing something amazing. He would shake it off and take a step up.
As the farmer's neighbors continued to shovel dirt on top of the animal, he would shake it off and take a step up.
Pretty soon, everyone was amazed as the donkey stepped up over the edge of the well and happily trotted off!

Life is going to shovel dirt on you, all kinds of dirt. The trick to getting out of the well is to shake it off and take a step up. Each of our troubles is a steppingstone. We can get out of the deepest wells just by not stopping, never giving up! Shake it off and take a step up.
Remember the five simple rules to be happy:

Free your mind from worries - Most never happen.
Live simply and appreciate what you have.

What Type of buy-to-let properties should i consider? :
The golden rule is, make sure you purchase a property that has a good rental market and is not overvalued. Be open minded, you might find a 2 double bedroomed flat above a grocery near a station rents out far faster than a similar flat in a nice road 15 minutes walk from a station, and costs considerably less to purchase. A large 6 double bedroomed house in only fair condition with no garden, close to a University could rent out with high yield to multi occupancy students, whereas a similar house with large garden in a leafy suburb could be impossible to rent out, since there are not many large families, and most people with families like properties in very good condition (new bathrooms and kitchens). Another example is, if you purchase a large house in a re-generating area with many double bedrooms, you might let the house on a room-by-room basis either to builders as weekday accommodation, or to foreign nationals seeking work in the UK.
However, if you buy good valued 1 bedroomed, or 2 double bedroomed flats close to a city centre (hospitals, universities, large offices, public sector offices) and transport/communications are very good, you will probably not have too many problems renting the property, though every city and area has its own micro-market, and asking a local letting agent is essential.

This pipe, as a material manifestation of past practice conjures the ephemeral smoke that bound the smoker to his or her clan lineage spirits and, when the smoking was communal, bound people to one another, just as I feel bound to this pipe, through the intimacy of the form and the imaginings of smoke it invokes.
